Abstract

Pocket diary of a soldier-bandsman of the 121st New York State Volunteers. The volume contains brief, daily entries of fighting in Virginia. After Sheffield was mustered out, June 25, 1865, he returned home to Butternuts, N.Y., where he farmed and did odd jobs.
